The Entry Level 3 Award Users aims to: • Meet the needs of candidates who work, or want to work, with computers and have little or no experience with IT • Allow candidates to learn, develop and practise the skills to gain confidence that will help them return to learning, or may be required for employment and/or career progression where IT use will be needed. • Contribute to the knowledge and understanding towards the related qualification supporting progression to the next level. By the end of the course the learner will be able to: IT Fundamentals (Getting started using computers) There are four learning outcomes to this unit. The learner will be able to: 1. Interact with and use IT system to meet needs 2. Organise, store and retrieve appropriately 3. Understand the need for safety and security practices 4. Maintain system and respond to common IT system problems Email There are three learning outcomes to this unit. The learner will be able to: 1. Use e-mail software tools to send and compose messages 2. Manage incoming e-mail 3. Respond to common problems when using e-mail Introduction to Word Processing: There are three learning outcomes to this unit. The learner will be able to: 1. Input text and edit word processing documents 2. Structure information within word processing documents 3. Use word processing software tools to format and present documents Using the Internet 1. Connect to the internet 2. Use browser software to navigate web pages 3. Use browser tools to search for information from the internet and the world-wide web or an intranet 4.
