Fine Metal describes the design and making of small scale artefacts using the unique visual and physical properties of a range of metals such as copper, pewter, steel and silver; the fineness is in the scale of working and the precise nature of skills applied; ideas can include development of sculptural works or more practical applications such as cutlery and containers, many of the materials, techniques and approaches are also relevant and transferable to a jewellery context. Where appropriate other complementary materials can also be considered such as wood, stone and resin.
