This course is a natural continuation of Music lessons in Key Stage 4. It is appropriate for people who have studied music at GCSE, as well as people who are competent performers on either voice or an instrument. It is an exciting course which allows students to study the types of music they are interested in, developing their skills and offering routes into the world of the music industry. This is the extension of the Year 12 Level 3 Certificate and is equivalent to one A Level. You will learn to perform music in the style of your own choosing, increasing your technical ability through a structured rehearsal routine. It involves playing in a solo and group performance at the end of the year. Specialist Unit - choose one of the following: Unit 33 – Solo Music performance skills Unit 40 – Working and developing as a music ensemble Optional Units – choose two more units from the following: Unit 24 – Music project; Unit 21 – Music in the community; Unit 30 – Pop music in practice; Unit 36 – Studying music from around the world; Unit 39 – The sound and music industry; Unit 42 – Singing techniques and performance; Unit 43 – Special subject investigation.
