AS In the first year students will study three AS units which are equally weighted. The Core 1 and Core 2 modules cover pure mathematics whilst Decision 1 is a branch of applied mathematics. Core 1 is a non-calculator exam but for all other units both a scientific and/or a graphical calculator are allowed. The specification followed does not have a coursework element and the units are assessed by written examination papers of 1½ hours duration, taken in June.
