The Art Department’s aim for AS is to encourage candidates to develop through a coursework portfolio and externally set assignment through: • Intellectual, imaginative, creative and intuitive powers. • Investigation, analytical, experimental, practical, technical and expressive skills, aesthetic understanding and critical judgment. • An understanding of the interrelationships between art, craft and design and an awareness of the contexts in which they operate. • Knowledge and understanding of art, craft and design in contemporary society and in other times and cultures.
