This is an alternative qualification to traditional AS Maths which relates mathematical theory to real life contexts. You will study three modules; one pure maths and two applied modules. Pure Maths builds on your existing GCSE knowledge and concentrates on algebra and graphs. Data Analysis will develop statistics topics already encountered while Decision Maths looks at effective methods of solving logic problems involving such things as computer algorithms and rail or road networks. Within the second year you will again study three modules. You will further develop your knowledge of pure maths in a real life context and create a coursework portfolio based on the work you have done so far.
