GCSE in Sociology

This course consists of three units: ? Sociology basics. This unit will introduce you to the key terms and the ways in which sociologists study society. You will learn about culture and identity and consider how the different organisations such as family the media and education affect our behaviour. ? Socialisation culture and identity. In this unit you will study three main areas. In ?Crime and Deviance? you will investigate crime statistics why people commit crime and how society reacts to crime. In ?Youth? you will focus on youth subcultures such as mods skinheads punks and goths. In ?The Media? you will study how the media affects us; assess whether the news is factual and evaluate the extent to which the media exaggerate certain issues. ? Applying sociological research techniques. You will examine a sociological topic in depth and consider the effectiveness of different sociological methods such as interviews observation and questionnaires.
