A Level English Language

Why is English such a rich and varied language? Do men and women speak differently? Will text-speak lead to the end of English as we know it? These and many other questions will be answered including learning about linguistic theories in areas such as how and why our language changes from day to day how to write effectively for a particular audience and how jargon and slang add to the richness of our language. As you become an independent learner you will develop the skills to analyse your own writing as well as other texts in a range of genres and you will study speech and learn about the way it is constructed in order to manipulate entertain and delight. Writing skills are vital and you will learn how to structure essays and plan investigations and include the right balance of knowledge data interpretation and commentary.
