Year 1 This qualification encourages an adventurous approach to art and design. Upon completion you should be able to demonstrate knowledge of past and contemporary art and design and produce artwork that embraces a range of ideas. The work of other artists and designers both past and present is key to supporting your own work. Visits to museums and art galleries are important to reinforce this. Essential to the course is your ability to think and use materials with confidence. Year 2 The second year of the course is directed at guiding you to make your own investigations into various aspects of fine art practice. As well as producing practical coursework you will also complete an extended essay linked to practical work. Work produced by Franklin students in this subject has received nationaly recognition for a number of years.
