English Literature

UPDATED 20160914 19:31:26

We expect students to have achieved at least grade C in both English Language and English Literature at GCSE. The subject requires a willingness to read a wide variety of texts, including long novels, and to discuss them with other students. You will need to be prepared to participate in small group exploration of texts, sometimes through improvisation, and to respond to what you read in a variety of written forms: creative writing, notes, presentation and formal essays. You will also need to be able to work independently and to develop your own ideas, supported by close knowledge of the texts.
