You can choose to study pathways in either: - Software Development, Games, Enterprise and e-Business - Computing, Business, Enterprise and e-Business This is a cutting edge programme using the latest technology preparing students for work in the computer industry, in business or for university. You can choose from one of two Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma qualifications: one in Software Development and one in general IT. The qualifications are equivalent to three A Levels. Whichever qualification you choose, you will study the same subjects and topics in Year 1 which include web design, e-commerce, information systems, programming, mobile technology and apps, computer systems and security. This gives a good grounding in computer science and business IT technologies - and enables you to decide which pathway you would like to take. In Year 2, you will make a choice as to which BTEC qualification you would like to specialise in: Software Development specialises in computer technology and programme and software development IT (Business) specialises in general IT and preparing students for a foundation in the application of IT technologies to Business. As part of both pathways on this course, you will visit different businesses and companies such as Coca Cola to learn how they use IT systems to enhance your learning. Students have been on study visits overseas to work on computer projects in Italy, Spain, France, Turkey and other countries. You will attend master classes and Q&A sessions with industry experts, visit exhibitions, take part in enterprise activities and competitions, and network with industry and former students about their experiences in their new careers or university studies. You will visit computer departments at leading universities in preparation for further university studies if you choose to progress to higher education and you will also receive help to organise work experience placements.
