The course actively engages students in a variety of genres of dance through a process designed to develop them as effective and independent learners and as critical and reflective thinkers, with enquiring minds in all areas of their studies. It develops students’ skills, knowledge and understanding of a range of dance styles and areas of dance. Through development of physical, technical and expressive skills, students are able to communicate choreographic intention and develop their individual qualities as performers. It also develops a critical appreciation of dance in its physical, artistic, aesthetic and cultural contexts whilst improving students’ resilience and confidence. Students will be able to experience this within the high-spec dance studio as well as having opportunities to work with professional companies and choreographers.
