In studying the BTEC Applied science programme you will be studying the three main sciences: biology, chemistry and physics. English or maths are available to students who do not have a grade C in these subjects as well as functional skills in ICT, maths and English. You will get hands on experience in the laboratory where you will develop your skills in chemistry to identify and analyse solutions and compounds. In physics you will undertake experiments involving electricity, circuits and forces etc. In biology you will learn about foods, grow bacterial cultures, test plant tissue for DNA and look at disease. You will also learn about atomic structure, bonding, materials and in physics you will look at power and renewable energy sources.
