This course is suitable for young people who have struggled with academic learning, but are keen to explore different vocational areas and learn vocational skills. The emphasis is on practical work. The course is spread over three days per week. Students will take a number of vocational units, spending at least sixhours a week on practical skills. You will choose three units from the range of vocational courses offered by the college such as: construction, motor vehicle and bikes, horticulture, multimedia, catering, performing arts, business and retail. In addition you will focus on exploring the world of work, exploring the local community, English and maths, sport, and a choice of creative options such as dance, drama, creative writing, ceramics, photography, drawing and painting, for those who want them. There will be additional support for your English and maths skills if required, and most students will take a BTEC in Work Skills at Entry 3 or Level 1.
