Hairdressing Level 2 (Fast Track) What will I Study? This is a one-year course and will include hands on experience in our commercially equipped Salon “Serenity” based at WSETEC, South Kirkby. Students on this course will attend a day release work placement in a commercial salon as part of their qualification. Learners are assessed through practical observation, oral questioning and written testing. You will be required to meet minimum standards and timings set by the awarding body. You will be required to provide treatments and salon services to clients in the commercial salon based at WSETEC. Progression Apprenticeship and / or Further Education NVQs / City and Guilds / VTCT / Stylist This course will run for one academic year and upon successful completion, you will gain A Level 2 NVQ. This is a professional qualification awarded by the VTCT (Vocational Training Charitable Trust). VTCT are the market leaders in Hairdressing and Beauty qualifications. In fact, it was they who first created the term ‘beauty therapy’ nearly 40 years ago. This qualification will enable you to get started as a hairdressing professional. Alternatively you could progress onto a Level 3 or equivalent qualification. Entry Requirements The Course requires students to have a reasonable standard of education, including at least 1 and up to 4 GCSEs at grade C or above.
