AS Photography What will I Study? Photography is a popular subject at A Level, with many students attracted to the combination of technical instruction and creative freedom it offers whether you're interested in digital photography, traditional SLR work or film-making, you'll receive expert support and tuition. During your AS course, you'll begin by focusing on documentary work. Based in a studio environment, you will learn to work with controlled lighting, as well as carrying out some experimental work. Throughout the duration of the course, you'll make regular location visits to take photographs. The A2 course allows you further scope to specialise. Increasingly you'll focus on the quality of your final prints, demonstrating the skills and knowledge you have acquired over the course of the AS. How will I be assessed? Portfolio; a collection of coursework carried out during the AS course. Externally set assignment (exam). Entry Requirements Students should hold a minimum of 5 A* - C GCSE grades including Grade B Art GCSE You don't need to have any previous experience of Photography – but a strong interest in the subject is essential. Progression Further education. Careers in this subject range from Magazine and Book Illustration, Photography, Architecture, Teaching, Painting, Sculpture, Printmaker, Fashion Design, Textile Design etc., to the less obvious and more specialised such as Medical Illustration, Shoe Design, Transport Design, Film and Video, Stage Design and Packaging Design
