The Subsidiary Diploma is equivalent to 1 full A-level. (Completing 4 units throughout the 2 years). This course is for dedicated, flexible and independent learners who have the desire and drive to develop their understanding of the business world. Students must be organised and have the ability to complete coursework or assessments under tight deadlines. Work must be presented in a professional manner with good spelling and grammar delivered throughout. Students must complete all tasks to achieve a pass in the course and must therefore be self motivated to succeed taking responsibility for their own learning and achievement with the guidance of their teacher. This BTEC national is designed to provide highly specialist work-related qualifications in the vocational sector of business studies. The course will give students the understanding and skills that are needed to prepare for the competitive employment sector. The course explores 3 core units giving students an introduction to and understanding of exploring business, developing a marketing campaign, personal and business finance- all fundamental to the success of business organisations. The core units are then followed by a series of optional units of which the teacher will tailor to the needs of the class. Optional pathways include recruitment and selection process, investigating customer service, market research, the English legal system or work experience in business. Students who are interested in the world of work, current affairs and the working of different areas of industry will find this course interesting and rewarding.
