Film Studies AS Level

UPDATED 20151001 09:49:39

The study of film is a multi disciplinary one. Film Studies equips you with the tools to study film from a variety of perspectives. You will look at the key concepts of film language, and develop skills to help understand the director's decisions in crafting key film sequences. You will explore the way in which films are marketed, and this explores the concept of genre, stars, fandom, the rise of the event movie and the advent of viral marketing. In the second year of Film Studies you will look at how movements in World Cinema reflect the key social movements of their age, and how they have influenced Hollywood in turn. You will also look at Popular Film and Emotional Response, and explore how directors cleverly manipulate audience reactions.
