This course will appeal to those students who: have an interest in and an enthusiasm for the study of religion; can use an inquiring, critical and empathetic approach to the study of religion; enjoy discussing and reflecting upon various moral and ethical issues; would like to do a subject which offers varied career opportunities. Unit 1 - Philosophy of Religion. Section A Study of Religion - You will study an exploration about differing Christian beliefs about God, the relationship between God and the real world and their value today. you will analyse Christian ideas about the self, death and afterlife, and their value today and compare differing sources of wisdom and authority in Christianity, their authority for Christians how they are applied to the content listed above. Section B Philosophy of Religion - You will have an in-depth study of the Arguments for the Existence of God; looking at Cosmological, Teleological and Ontological. You will evaluate the impact Evil and Suffering has on the belief in God and explore different Religious Experiences. Unit 2 Christianity and Ethics. Study of Religion. you will study key moral principles, an exploration of the relationship between Christian identity and sexual identity and the degree to which Christianity asks individuals to conform to set norms of sexual behaviour and gender roles. you will analyse religious pluralism and religious identity. Ethics and Religion - You will study normative ethics and apply these to current Medical research and developments. You will examine the religious and non religious conscience and Meta Ethics
