The course is made up of Unit 1: Applied Exercise Physiology, Skill Acquisition and Opportunities for Participation, and Unit 2: Practical Aspects of Physical Education. The AS course is delivered in a blend of theory or classroom based lessons and practical lessons to develop practical performances in at least two sports. In addition, students are required to complete personal study and research in each of the topics studied as well as regularly participating or competing in at least two sports or activities. The A2 course is delivered in a blend of theory or classroom based lessons and practical lessons to develop practical performances in at least one sport. In addition, students are required to complete personal study and research in each of the topics studied as well as regularly participating or competing in at least two sports or activities. In both AS and A2 courses, students are expected to contribute to KS3 PE lessons to develop a more in depth knowledge of performance, analysis, evaluation and corrective practices. This will support their understanding for Unit 2 and 4.
