Are you interested in studying a world that is constantly changing? Would you like to develop your communication, spatial awareness and problem solving skills? Would you like to study one of the top 10 subjects preferred by universities? If the answer to the above three questions is yes, then Geography is a good A Level choice for you. Geography leads to exciting courses in science, Arts and Social Science subjects. Careers in Land Management, Environment Agencies, Teaching, planning or travel and tourism. It is seen very useful in both the legal and financial sectors of employment. At AS Level students will study global themes, including Globalisation and Climate Change. Students will discover how their own actions can relate to the wider world, be it their local area or a country far away. In Paper 1, students will study Tectonic Processes and Hazards, The Water Cycle and Water Insecurity, The Carbon Cycle and Energy Security, Coastal Landscapes, Globalisation, Superpowers, Regenerating Places and Global Development and Connections. Students will also be expected to participate in 4 days of fieldwork which will be examined in Papers 1 and 2 and will also give students the skills needed to complete the Independent Investigation in Year 13. At A2 Level students will learn how the world is contested and develop practical research skills in their chosen area. The Independent Investigation will allow the further development of the investigative skills gained at AS Level and prepare students for the demands of higher education or employment. Paper 3 is a synoptic paper that will focus on Players, Attitudes and Actions, Futures and Uncertainties.
