BTEC courses are designed to provide specialist work-related qualifications in a range of sectors. BTEC National Award is a vocational dance course where the student will be continually assessed over a two year period. Students will be taught various units of dance study by a range of teachers who are current working professionals within the performing arts industry. Students will also have the opportunity to attend Colin’s Performing Arts College in Romford to work with dance and performing arts specialists in preparation for auditioning and attending full time performing arts courses post sixth form. There are three options when choosing your programme of study for Btec Level 3 Diploma. 1. BTEC Level 3 Certificate one year course = 30 credits and equivalent to 1 AS-Level (8hours per fortnight). 2. BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma two year course=60 credits and equivalent to 1 A-Level (8 hours per fortnight). 3. BTEC Level 3 Diploma two year course =120 credits and is equivalent to 2 A-Levels (16 hours per fortnight). Each BTEC qualification has set mandatory units that all learners must complete, these include: Performing to an Audience, Dance Performance, Productions Arts and Performance Workshop. Other optional units are: Choreographing Dances, Developing Contemporary Dance, Jazz Dance, Dance Appreciation, Urban, International, Tap, Ballet, Singing for the Dancer and Contemporary Technique.

Name: Dance - Double Award CPA academy Qualification title: BTEC Diploma in Performing Arts (QCF) Qualification type: Assessment Each unit will be assessed by the tutor once the student has provided evidence that demonstrates that they have met all the learning outcomes for the unit. The grading will be a Pass, Merit or Distinction. At the end of the two year period when all units are complete the work will be internally verified and then an external verifier will come and grade the work. Btec Level 3 National grades convert to UCAS points, just like A-Levels. Once you have completed your Btec Course you can get a job or apprenticeship, use your qualification to develop your career in performing arts within a professional dance college and/or continue studying to degree level at college or university. Working with Colin’s Performing Arts College will enable you to have a strong link with other professionals, a clear insight into what it would be like to attend a professional dance college post sixth form and help you gain the best possible grade!
