A Level Mathematics is an exciting and interesting course which goes beyond the basics of addition and subtraction and delves into the worlds of advanced algebra, geometry, trigonometry, mathematical modelling and more. The subject is suited to those who enjoy a challenge, who like the clarity of a correct solution, and who have the ability to use logical thought and formulate a problem in a way which allows for computation and decision. Advanced Mathematics can lead to a number of educational and career opportunities, making the A Level course one of the most versatile you can study, and it will be an asset in whatever career path you decide to take. A Level Mathematicians study Core Mathematics; this involves the challenge of problem solving and extends their knowledge of topics like algebra and trigonometry to include powerful new ideas such as calculus. Core mathematics accounts for two thirds of the subject. In addition to Core Mathematics, students will also cover some Statistics and Mechanics. Statistics involves analysing and interpreting data whereas Mechanics is very Physics-based and aims to take students on a brand new mathematical journey studying topics like Kinematics, Statics and Moments.
