Cambridge TECs have been developed by building on links with the University of Cambridge and the Cambridge Approach to assessment and its reputation for offering creative and inspiring vocational qualifications. This has been done by ensuring that the Cambridge TECs have a clear, practical and sensible approach to assessment. Work has been conducted in partnership with practising tutors/teachers, as well as industry specialists and leading employers in the development of these qualifications and the support materials, to offer students an exciting, inspiring and challenging qualification created to develop transferable skills that are essential in the workplace or for further study. CAMBRIDGE TEC – BUSINESS Business is one of the most popular subject areas offered by Turnford 6th form. Businesses are the heart of the economy. They develop innovation, create wealth within communities and lead the way in enhancing the skills of the UK workforce. The Cambridge TEC in Business encapsulates this through a wide range of units. It is an ideal foundation for students entering the workplace, providing them with a theoretical background reinforced with practical skills that transfer into the modern workplace. The Cambridge Tec qualification covers 6 units over 2 years, of which 2 will be mandatory. Assessment is 100% internally assessed portfolios with external moderation. Grades are awarded as Pass (P), Merit (M), Distinction (D) and Distinction* (D*). The equivalent GCE grades are Pass=E, Merit=C, Distinction=A, Distinction*=A*. The UCAS equivalent points are Pass = 40, Merit = 80, Distinction = 120 and Distinction* = 140. In the first year, the 3 units covered are: Unit 12 – Recruitment and Selection Unit 2 – Business Resources (Mandatory) Unit 1 – Business Environment (Mandatory) In the second year, the 3 units covered are: Unit 5 – Human Resource Management Unit 3 – Introduction to Marketing Unit 4 – Business Accounting
