Key Work Psychology is the science of mind and behaviour. We look at people’s motivations behind a range of different behaviours from a scientific point of view, looking at data in a rigorous way. If you are interested in people and inquisitive about their behaviour, this is the subject for you. The A Level Psychology course covers a broad range of subjects, including social and cognitive psychology, child development, and the psychology that lies behind atypical behaviour. You’ll gain an understanding of why people develop differently and of the causes of conditions such as autism and anxiety disorders. As you study A Level Psychology you will gain an understanding of the main issues that arise from various psychological methods, and look at the ways in which psychology can be applied. You will learn to conduct effective research and how to interpret the results, how to use statistics effectively and deal with ethical issues. Is this the course for me? Have you ever wondered why people behave in certain ways? Or maybe you’ve always wanted to learn more about your own mind, emotions and actions? Earning an A-Level in psychology is an excellent way to gain a greater understanding of people. In addition to satisfying your own interest in human nature, having a solid understanding of what makes people do certain things can be a very marketable skill in a wide variety of job settings, including social services, advertising, marketing, education, health care and politics. Psychology A Level will equip you with the skills and knowledge to decode human behaviour in everyday life. You can expect to develop an understanding of different areas of psychology such as cognition, child development, social psychology and individual differences. You will also learn how topical issues, such as eyewitness testimony, the media and stress, can be better understood and managed by looking at them from a psychological perspective.
