AS Level Product Design 3D

UPDATED 20150930 16:33:23

The course offers a chance for candidates with an enthusiasm for product design to develop their knowledge and skills and is a natural progression from GCSE. Product Design 3D deals with all the main resistant materials such as wood, metal and plastic but encourages candidates to experiment with a much broader range of materials and material combinations. Similar to the GCSE, the course is broken down in to a written exam and coursework in both years. At AS/A2 Level candidates will need to develop good independent study skills and to read around their subject area as they will be expected to adapt the work of other designers to inform their own creative designing. AS or Year 1 (2 units) Materials, Components and Application Learning Through Designing and Making Coursework takes a number of forms: a simple design-and-make project, two smaller projects or a portfolio of work.
