Sociology is a stimulating, contemporary and challenging subject aimed at getting you thinking about how British society is organised. It will help you develop analytical and critical ways of thinking and involves you studying the influence of social forces such as social class, ethnicity, racism, religion, gender, age, disability and globalisation on both social institutions such as the education system, the family and the criminal justice system, and individual actions. You will examine how sociologists use scientific methods and data to support or challenge sociological argument.
