Mathematics is an exciting and beautiful subject, which involves artistry, logic and analysis. Mathematics underpins many aspects of higher level studies. This course aims to develop understanding and the ability to apply abstract concepts and reasoning. The course is fast paced and not for the faint-hearted, since the work load is particularly heavy and demanding. Students study pure mathematics, and aspects of applied mathematics. Successful candidates undertake rigorous practice in basic techniques so that they can feel the joy of achievement in successfully using these to seek deeper understanding.
