UPDATED 20160107 08:37:42

If you are interested in a career in the health sector such as nursing, midwifery, occupational therapy etc, then this course could be for you. It will give you an A level equivalent qualification (equivalent to 3 A levels), vocational work experience and will equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to progress to employment or (increasingly) into higher education. Recent students have gone on to study at Coventry University (Occupational Therapy, Childhood and Youth Studies) Northampton University (Primary Teaching) and at Liverpool University (Early years and Psychology). This is a Study Programme course which, if successful, leads to the 90 credit qualification over one year and progression to the full 180 credit qualification over 2 years. Successful completion of the Diploma qualification will enable you to apply to university or to progress into health and social care employment. Larisa Hine joined City College from Finham Park and finished her course with us in 2012. She progressed to a nursing degree course at Nottingham University where she has been awarded a First Class Honours Degree. With a choice of job offers and progression to her Masters degree Larisa is a great example of what can be achieved. The course will provide you with the foundation skills needed to work with a range of different client groups within the Health and Social Care sector. You will be provided with the opportunity to learn in the classroom, online and within health and social care placements. You will learn and develop skills in the following key areas: •Anatomy and Physiology •Communications •Equality and Diversity •Health and Safety •Life Stages •Personal and Professional Development •Psychology •Public Health •Sociology
