The Subsidiary Diploma provides an opportunity for students to develop research, graphics design, programming and Computing skills. The BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma is a technical, work-related course designed for those wishing to learn how to be professionals in the computing and IT industries. You will learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. As well as learning about the employment area you have chosen, you will develop the skills you need to start a career. The course will enable you to find out: how hardware inside the machine actually works and what it’s like to install and maintain software; what the implications of installing a new computer system are for a business; how to manage the security of data and avoid and detect computer crime; how to design and develop a range of graphical products to make sure they are user friendly; how to program in a variety of computing languages; how to design and build computer games and applications; An exciting element of the course is web animation development. This part includes the study of animation techniques and the development of animation components such as graphics, audio, animation and scripting. You will also study the principles and concepts behind animation design and their impact on society as part of your overall learning in all aspects of the profession.
