Fine Art AS Level

UPDATED 20161110 10:16:10

The course is practical and experiential in nature with students being introduced to different media and processes through practical investigation and experiments. A number of local and national trips and visits provide essential stimuli for you to develop your ideas and responses enabling you to learn about artists and the context of their work. Course Content: Students work in the first term in response to visits in their local area including recording ideas from investigation of local buildings in the landscape. You will develop skills using a range of print based, 3D and 2D media in the Autumn Term, resulting in a series of personalized outcomes which make up component 1 of the course. In the spring term, you will begin work on an externally set paper as part of the controlled assessment using your own relevant choice of media for exhibition in the Summer term. A short international visit forms an exciting opportunity for you to develop practical work in the Spring Term should you wish to further develop ideas in response to an experience of a different cultural context.
