UPDATED 20161006 10:39:52

A study of the Media is interdisciplinary, it includes elements of Politics, Philosophy, Sociology, Communication, Expressive Arts and Critical Thinking. We offer students the opportunity to understand the way the contemporary world is shown to us through an exploration of the Media.  Through a variety of approaches candidates are able to develop their enjoyment of a range of media and develop critical and analytical skills to explore Media texts.  Candidates approach the study of media through the key concepts of: Representations, Language, Institutions, Values and Ideology and Audiences.  These key concepts underpin every aspect of the course.  We aim to: Enhance student enjoyment and appreciation of the media and its role in their daily lives. Develop critical understanding of the media through engagement with media products and concepts and through the creative application of practical skills. Explore and create production processes, technologies and contexts. Become independent in research skills and their application.
