A-level Chemistry is examined by three written papers at the end of year 13 covering all the work completed over the 2 years. Each paper is 2hours long. Papers 1 and 2 each consist of 105 marks of short and long answer questions and are both worth 35% of the A level. Paper 3 consists of 90 marks and is 30% of the A level. Paper 1 assesses Physical and Inorganic Chemistry, Paper 2 assesses Physical and Organic Chemistry. Both papers assess relevant practical skills. Paper 3 assesses practical technique and data analysis, all topics across the specification and includes 30 multiple choice questions. Students are required to carry out a minimum of 12 practicals over years 12 and 13.
