English Language and Literature A Level

UPDATED 20161027 19:46:17

You will prepare for three examined components and one coursework component. The first component focuses on non-fiction spoken and written texts from the AQA anthology. You will compare an anthology text with a short unseen text which is clearly linked by theme, purpose or mode. The second component explores poetry and drama. One of each text will be studied. In component three you will study a narrative fiction text and explore the methods and techniques of the writer, creating your own narrative opening. The fourth component is coursework. Here you will compare a non-fiction text with a free choice text and produce a non-fiction piece of writing.
