A Level Business Studies has been designed to enable candidate to focus on the dynamic nature of the contemporary business world, provide opportunities for research on topical business issues and offer opportunities for the development and application of a full range of academic skills. At the Belvedere Academy we deliver AQA GCE A Level in Business Studies the Market Leader. The specification has been developed to provide a modern, dynamic course which is engaged and useful for students. It encourages the practical application of business concepts by exploring evens in the business world and relating these to theory and practice. Importantly, it develops the transferable, academic skills required by higher education through using appropriate business tools and methods. Students on this course should study business in a variety of contexts (e.g. large/small, UK /global focused, service/manufacturing) and consider: The importance of the context of business in relation to decision making The interrelated nature of business activities and how they affect competitiveness The competitive environment and the markets in which businesses operate The influences on functional decisions and plans including ethical and environmental issues The factors that might determine whether a decision is successful e.g. the quality of data and the degree of uncertainty How technology is changing the way decisions are made and how businesses operate and compete The impact on stakeholders of functional decisions and their response to such decisions use of non quantitative and quantitative data in decision making Strategic decision making (full A level only) The study of strategic decision making should build on the study of decision making in the functional areas.
