CPLD course is approved by national college for teaching and leadership. A key feature of this course is the requirement to complete a professional development portfolio in order to achieve Early Years Educator Status. The qualification also provides entry into employment or HE. This is a two year full time course. The course consists of 13 core units and 5 optional units including units such as child development, safeguarding in early years, play and learning, observation, assessment and planning, working with children under 3 years and career development in early years. An integral part of this 2 year course is that students undertake 2 days work placement each week in 3 different childcare settings, working with children from birth up to 7 years 11 months.
