On our Level 2 Diploma in Bricklaying programme we will help to develop your skillset and knowledge to enable you to build, repair and maintain a variety of structures, from housing extensions to city centre commercial developments. All of our construction programmes are delivered at the Engineering and construction campus, a purpose-built unit that simulates an industrial working environment for practical learning. Topics of study include: ◾Health, safety and welfare in construction ◾Principles of building construction, information and communication ◾Building solid walling, isolated and attached piers ◾Interpreting working drawings to set our masonry structures ◾Construct cavity walling forming masonry structures We have fantastic relationships with local and national industry leaders who provide work experience opportunities and take part in guest speaker sessions for our students. Last year, bricklaying students went to the Willmott Dixon Construction site in Essex to get a behind the scenes look at a major construction site.
