UPDATED 20161010 10:25:04

What will I learn on this course? • You will learn how to analyse the way writers use form, structure and language to convey meaning in a wide range of literary and non-literary genres. You will also compare, contrast and adapt a range of literary and non-literary forms for a range of purposes. • You will learn how to transform texts into other genres • You will be looking at new aspects of language, such as transcripts of natural speech. • You will learn how to study texts closely and in depth responding in an appropriate way. There will be a focus on how dramatists create effects and, in the study of speech, upon what people say and what they actually mean. • You will look at how language shapes meaning and conveys attitudes and values of both writers and their characters in texts which will include poetry, prose and drama, as well as other types of writing, like advertisements or travel guides. You will also be expected to link text from the Anthology with what you have read independently.
