UPDATED 20161004 14:52:50

An enjoyment of, and an interest in, Drama and Theatre, both as a participant and as a member of an audience, is essential for success at A-level. You will extend your skills, knowledge and understanding encouraging life-long learning and providing access to related careers. You will also be encouraged to appreciate the significance of social, cultural and historical influences on theatre practice both past and present. CONTENT We will study a minimum of two texts and three key extracts covering a range of periods and contexts. You will participate in a minimum of two performances, one devised and one text performance. You will need to consider working methods of a theatre practitioner in your devised performance work. You will study one performance text each year. Of the three key text extracts that you study, two will be performed, and one will be an unseen text within the examination assessment. We will incorporate the evaluation of live theatre into one of the Year 13 units so that candidates can relate it to their own theatre practice. SCHOOL PRODUCTIONS You will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with others on an annual Whole School Production demonstrating your expertise and enthusiasm in both Drama and the creative process.
