The course comprises seven required units and six to twelve optional units (dependent upon which pathway you take ; Extended Diploma/Diploma/Subsidiary Diploma) exploring topics such as: Anatomy and physiology ; Health and safety ; Fitness training ; Sports leadership ; Land-based and water-based outdoor activities ; Expedition work ; The environment and sustainability ; Business and operational management, plus many others. These units will not only give you an insight into the effectiveness of your own performance, but also into improving the performance of others. Sports leadership is an integral part of the course and will help you to develop confidence, organisational skills, problem solving and communication skills. All units will be assessed through a variety of practical and theoretical ways, which will need to be collated by students in a portfolio.
