A Level Government and Politics

You will examine the British democratic system by considering whether people have a fair say in the decisions taken in this country. The course will cover issues concerning elections, pressure groups and political parties and new developments such as e-democracy and the increasing influence of the European Union. You will also learn how the different parts of the political system work, examining the roles of Parliament, the Prime Minister and the judiciary. In your second year you will examine the ideas that underpin political debate including Liberalism, Conservatism, Socialism, Multiculturalism and Feminism.
