Our GCSE English Language evening class is aimed at adult learners (aged 19+), who are seeking a grade C or above in order to progress with their job or to gain access to another course. It is a Higher Tier course which will bring your level of English up to a standard expected by most employers and universities. Some of our learners also take this course so that they can help their children with English. This course is free (unless you already possess a pass grade at C or above in the subject, in which case fees will be £724 subject to concessions)

Course information

Name: GCSE English Qualification title: GCSE in English Language Qualification type: Assessment 40% controlled assessments spread throughout the year. There are 4 controlled assessments: Spoken Language Analysis, Extended Reading and two for Creative Writing. 60% final examination in June (2.25 hrs) In addition you will be assessed for 3 speaking and listening assignments. The numerical grade for these will appear on your certificate, along with your reading and writing grade. Entry requirements

You will need A4 writing paper, pens and a clip folder to keep notes and hand - outs in. Highlighters are also useful. You may also wish to purchase a copy of the extended reading text, which is ‘An Inspector Calls' by J.B. Priestley.
