Sports Therapy, Health & Well Being (Health)

The Sports Therapy, Health and Wellbeing study programme combines a technical level qualification - in the form of a sports massage diploma - with a Subsidiary Diploma in Sports Science and Advanced Research and an A - Level in Biology. It is delivered over two years and aims to develop the knowledge, understanding and skills needed for a career as a sports massage therapist, either employed or self - employed. It is an ideal pathway for learners wishing to progress to Sports Therapy or Physiotherapy courses at university. Year 1 is delivered at the Joseph Wright Centre; Year 2 is split between the Joseph Wright and Ilkeston campuses.

Entry requirements

Learners are expected to purchase a Sports Department uniform to wear during practical sessions and theory - based class time. You may also wish to purchase your own massage equipment, fold away beds and oils in order to practise. This is not, however, a requirement of the course and will not be needed until Year 2. A contribution towards trips and our end - of - year celebration will be required. Yearly gym membership is available for £50, with associated incentives provided.
