Careers in the Public Services (Sword)

This Level 2 Public Services study programme is designed for learners with mid - level GCSE grades who have achieved grade C in either GCSE English or Maths but grade D in the other subject. The programme will challenge your discipline, organisational and leadership skills as well as your time management. You will also need to show application in additional reading and research to achieve your required GCSE. In both practical and theoretical settings, you will study what the Public Services can offer and where there are growth markets in employment within this sector.

Name: Careers in the Public Services (Sword) Qualification title: BTEC First Extended Certificate in Public Services Qualification type: Assessment You will build a portfolio based around evidence generated by the various assessment methods in each unit. You are expected to work on multiple assessments at any one time. You will be assessed through practical demonstrations, logbooks and performance records, written reports and essays, presentations, workbooks, discussions and vivas. Entry requirements

You are expected to purchase a uniform to wear at College and for practical sessions. Kit costs will vary depending on the items purchased: the cost is non - refundable once the items are ordered. You are also asked to contribute towards the end - of - year celebration event and initial team building day. Total costs are approximately £130. There may be additional events during the year to which you are expected to contribute. Financial assistance is available depending on your individual circumstances. Yearly gym membership is offered for £50, with additional incentives included. For applicants from outside the region or who travel over distance, the College has residential accommodation if required.
