Media Studies is for people who want to understand how the media construct meaning and the influence of the media on audiences and society. It is a subject with a broad base and caters for those who are analytical, creative and technically minded. You should have an interest in a broad range of media and should be confident in your written skills, as the examinations are essay based. Students will be given the opportunity to extend and reflect their understanding of the media through the production of a music magazine in year 12 and music promo or short film package in year 13. Successful students go on to a wide range of employment prospects in the media industry equipped with creative, analytical and practical skills that can be applied to a variety of professions.
