Spanish Improvers

UPDATED 20151223 12:50:15

This course is for anyone who has an interest in extending their Spanish skills beyond a basic level. You will develop your ability to use the language in a wide variety of situations. The friendly and relaxed atmosphere will build your confidence on this stimulating and practical course. You will also learn about Spanish culture and traditions. You will revise the pronunciation and basic spelling rules and simple speaking and listening skills such as how to introduce yourself, family and friends, ask basic questions such as where is? and give simple replies. You will also review everyday topics and basic grammar and build your vocabulary. You will also read simple texts and write short notes and messages. You will develop communication strategies to help you get by and learn to be competent in a different culture setting. There will be a variety of activities including: listening to audio or video clips, speaking in pairs or small groups, short written exercises to practise language structures and vocabulary, short reading comprehensions, memory games and pictures to help you acquire new vocabulary, class surveys, role plays and, where possible, use of resources available on the internet. Your teacher will monitor your progress as you complete activities on the course and give you feedback on how to improve. You will also be encouraged to assess your own progress and discuss this with your teacher. You will have the opportunity to work towards a nationally recognised certificate at either Entry Level or Level 1 by completing tasks set in class. You may wish to continue learning the language by enrolling on the Intermediate course.
