Yoga is non-competitive so anyone can practise regardless of age or level of flexibility, strength or balance. This means you will begin to learn about how your body works and discover what you are capable of. Yoga is an ancient system of practices designed to bring about health and well-being on every level, mental, emotional, physical and spiritual. All sessions are focused on Hatha yoga, physical yoga postures based on the age-old principles of yoga. These can be easily modified to suit all levels of ability so beginners and experienced students will find appropriate challenges in the sessions. Pranayama (breathing exercises) and Relaxation techniques will be used to help you unwind and release the stresses and tensions of modern living. You will learn yoga sequences and postures that enable you to value how good it is to stretch your body and open your mind to new experiences all of which bring a sense of well-being, calmness and balance into your life. You will also learn something about the philosophy of yoga. Each session will involve movements to warm the muscles and major joints of the body to prepare for asana, pranayama and relaxation. As the course progresses you should feel an increase in your vitality and enhanced self awareness, improved flexibility, strength and stamina, improved posture and balance and learn the art of deep relaxation. You will have the opportunity to acquire knowledge and understanding of the history, philosophy and origins of yoga. The practices should enable you to cope more effectively with tension and stress bringing harmony and peace in one's daily life. By watching and listening to the tutor demonstration and taking part in practical exercises. At certain points in the course you and your tutor will review and record your progress.
