You will work in the first term to investigate a theme of your own choice using media relevant to your own independent exploration. Visits to art galleries and studios, life drawing sessions and specific skills based workshops such as printmaking will help support your idea development. In the spring term, student begin work on an externally set paper starting in Feb 2017 as part of the final controlled assessment. You will use your own relevant choice of media for the final exhibition in the Summer term.
Name: Art A Level Qualification title: GCE A Level in Art and Design Qualification type: Assessment There are 2 components to this course. The first componenet is worth 60% and is designed to allow you as students to follow opportunities to develop your ideas in response to a range of research contexts. Students record practical and written observations, experiment with different 2D and 3D media and processes and refine ideas towards producing resolved outcomes. (Max 90 marks available). A critical personal study (a minimum of 1000 words) further supports your portfolio of work and carries 18 marks. The second part of the course is in response to an externally set thematic paper (ESA) 40% - that will begin in Feb 2017. This aspect of the course includes prep studies and a 15 hour period of sustained focus under exam conditions (72 marks available).
