AS and A2 Mathematics extends and challenges your compulsory maths education. Through studying the course, you will delve deeper into the foundations of Mathematics, becoming far more proficient in what is regarded as 'the universal language' as well as gaining a greater appreciation of how Mathematics permeates through every aspect of our lives. Mathematics is a subject that inspires, challenges, shocks and empowers the individual. By studying Mathematics, you will join a select group within society whose members are hugely in demand, learning a range of transferable skills that make Mathematics the ideal companion to any other choice of subjects. At Wilsthorpe we study the compulsory Core modules covering aspects such as coordinate geometry, trigonometry and the Calculus. At AS we also study a module in Statistics expanding on knowledge from GCSE and moving on to learn about the Binomial distribution and regression. At A2 we study Decision Mathematics which is something completely different and offers challenges in topics such as Graphy Theory and Linear Programming.
