AQA Advanced Level in French

This course builds upon skills acquired at GCSE and fosters a deeper understanding of French culture and language. In the first year students study social and technological change alongside highlights of French-speaking artistic culture,including francophone music and cinema. Students also explore the influence of the past on present-day French-speaking communities. Students will also study a text or a film. In the second year students will learn about political engagement and who wields political power in the French-speaking world.Students will have the opportunity to carry out independent research on an area of their choice. Throughout their studies, they will learn the language in the context of French-speaking countries and the issues and influences which have shaped them.

Name: AQA Advanced Level in French Qualification title: AQA Advanced Level in French Qualification type: GCE A/AS Level or equivalent Assessment In both study years the assessment takes the same format. Paper 1 is Listening, Reading and Writing including translation into English (40%). Paper 2 is Writing including a translation and an essay on a set film or text (30%) and Paper 3 is Speaking (30%) which is a discussion of two themes based on a stimulus card.
